How to Give Useful Writing Critique

Writers need critique partners. As well-meaning as beta readers may be, only another writer can really tell us what we need to know about our work. But many writers are reluctant to join a critique group because they’ve heard horror stories or have had a bad experience themselves. This workshop will equip writers to find or form a critique group, and provide suggestions on how to give meaningful critiques that identify problems without hurting feelings. Joining a good critique group is one of the most beneficial things a writer can do, but only if the group is founded on trust and civility.

This online class is hosted by the Orange County Library System. The library card field is optional, so anyone can register.
